Preparing an enameled wire for use in the FK919 Metal Detector Kit.

This is a “Construction Tip” for achieving a reliable solder joint with the enameled wire used in our FK919 (Metal Detector” kit).

A common symptom of a problem:
The FK919 often does not work when first assembled.

The real issue:
The enameled wire of the coils does not solder easily, unless the insulating enamel outer layer is first removed from the wire.

A possible solution:

We recommend trimming the wire to 15 mm longer than needed for assembly in the kit, then clean and prepare the wire end as demonstrated here.
